 Deputy Chief
Deputy Chief Robert Skowron holds the rank of major and works closely with the Chief in the management of the police department. In addition, Major Skowron oversees the Office of Professional Standards and is the Department's accreditation manager.
Patrol Services Division
The Patrol Services Divison, commanded by Capt. G. Taylor, is responsiblefor general patrol and field operations. This includes the protection of life and property; apprehension of criminals; use of the problem-solving process to address chronic crime and disorder problems; providing law enforcement personnel with support that is consistent with strategic operational plans; and enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances.
Support Services Division
The mission of the Support Services Divison is to provide quality service to the citizens of the City of Hopewell and the members of the Hopewell Police Department. The Support Services Division is comprised of both sworn and civilian personnel who make up the following diversified units and specialty areas: Communication Services Division, Animal Services Division, Crime Suppression Unit, Community Services Section, School Crossing Guards, Fleet Maintenance, and the Criminal Investigations Unit.
Our Criminal Investigations Unit and Crime Suppression Unit is comprised of highly skilled detectives and certified forensic technicians. Our department is also a member of the Central Virginia Narcotics Task Force, which is a cooperative effort between state and other local law enforcement agencies which are effectively reducing the flow of drugs and guns into our community.
Administrative Services Division
The Division of Administrative Services, managed by Kim Parson, is responsible for coordinating and directing Department activities relating to Property Evidence Unit, budget and fiscal control; personnel administration; research, analysis, and data collection; grants administration; information services; and records and facilities management. |
