The Department of Recreation and Parks offers a variety of aquatic programs for the entire family.  The Hopewell Community Center boasts a 25-meter  heated indoor pool with depths ranging from three to thirteen feet.  Activities such as swimming lessons, water aerobics, lifeguard certification classes, and scuba diving are offered throughout the year.

  • Pool is open from 5 – 8 p.m. unless classes are scheduled. Lap lanes will remain open unless posted.

Program Information

Adult Swim Lessons
For ages 18+. This program is for adults of all swimming abilities. Instruction will range from very basic drown-proofing and water safety to learning the competitive swim strokes (front and back crawl, breaststroke, and butterfly). If you are a non-swimmer looking to learn, or a swimmer looking to improve technique, this is the program for you!

Strokes and Turns Clinic
For ages 6-12. This program is designed to assist competitive swimmers with their stroke technique and swimming endurance. Instructors will offer guidance on stroke and breathing techniques in a team practice environment. Participants must be able to pass a swim test. This class is not meant to serve as a basic swimming lesson.

Indoor Sprint Triathlon
For ages 18+. Have you ever wanted to do a triathlon, but didn’t think you could make it through the entire event? Come “get your feet wet” with our indoor sprint triathlon. Participants will be given a set amount of time in each discipline to cover as much distance as possible. The competitor with the greatest total distance of all three disciplines will be crowned the winner. Swimming will be in the pool, cycling will be done on a stationary bike, and running will be done on a treadmill.
