Intro to Spike Ball For ages 13+. Check out this new sport that is taking the nation by storm! This new game will test your reflexes and agility much like volleyball and handball. Beginner Tennis For ages 11-15. Do you want to learn the basics of tennis? This workshop will focus on forehand and backhand technique, positioning, and scoring. Our instructors will cover basic field hockey skills like passing, shooting, dribbling and stick-handling. No previous experience required. Midnight Basketball For ages 13-17. This event will feature a free throw contest, three point shooting contest, and three-on-three double elimination tournament. Competition will be divided into age divisions based on the number of registered participants. Refreshment will be provided. Spectators under 18 will not be permitted. This course will teach the basics of target archery, including range safety and proper technique. Participants will learn to shoot recurve bows, compound bows, and crossbows. Recreation and Parks is proud to offer the first ever organized futsal league in Hopewell! Competition will consist of 5v5 competition on a hard court surface using portable goals. Fall Soccer League InformationFall Soccer Schedule August 27-Registration deadline (late registration is not guaranteed) Week of August 29-Player drafts Week of September 5-Practices begin September 17-First weekend of games Age Divisions Preschool (ages 3-4) U6 (ages 5-6) U9 (ages 6-9) U13 (ages 9-13) *player age is determined as of August 27 Equipment Information Players will be provided jerseys and matching socks. Players will need to provide their own black shorts, shin guards, and appropriate footwear. Soccer cleats are recommended but tennis shoes will be permitted. Only cleats with molded plastic studs will be permitted. Screw-in cleats and/or metal studs are prohibited for all ages. Guidelines for player equipment during games: -Players should have jerseys tucked in at all times during the game. -Players will not be permitted to wear any jewelry or accessories during games (includes earrings, bracelets, necklaces, hair beads, rings, etc.) Exceptions for medical jewelry will be permitted. -If a player is required to wear a hard cast during a game, the cast must be covered in foam padding and taped. Inspection by the referee will be required before each match. -Long sleeve shirts are allowed under jerseys. Shirts should be black in color and may not have a hood or drawstrings for player safety. -Long black sweatpants or athletic pants will be permitted instead of shorts for cold days. Sh0rts are not required above pants. Pant legs will need to be pulled up to show sock color. -Wire rim frames will not be permitted for participants needing glasses. Sports frames or plastic frames are required. Location and Scheduling All games will be played at Atwater Soccer Complex on Saturdays. Make-up games may be played on weekdays, if necessary. Practices will take place on weekdays and will vary throughout the season. Parents and players should be prepared to attend practices any night of the week and games any time during the day on Saturdays. Parents should notify coaches when a player will be absent from practice or a game.
