Responsibilities

As the Office of the Treasurer, we are accountable to the citizens and business owners of the City of Hopewell and strive to deliver quality customer service to each and every person. The Treasurer is an elected official responsible for the collection of local taxes and fees, the custody of and accounting for those collections, and the investment of city funds. The various types of taxes and fees we collect for the City include:

  • Real Estate Taxes
  • Personal Property Taxes
  • Business License and business-related taxes
  • Various Court, Sheriff and other departmental fees and invoices
  • Estimated and State Income taxes
  • Animal Licenses

The Treasurer’s Office is also responsible for the printing and mailing of annual real estate and personal property bills, monthly supplemental bills, and delinquent notices.
