Career
Major Reid has over 15 years’ experience in law enforcement, all with the Hopewell Police Department. He started his career in 2007 assigned to the uniform patrol division as a patrol officer. In November 2008, he was transferred to the Crime Suppression Unit as a Detective. In April 2012, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit where he remained until he was promoted to Sergeant in September 2013. During his time as Sergeant he worked in our Patrol Division and our Support Services Division overseeing our Criminal Investigation and Crime Suppression Unit. In April of 2018, he was promoted to Lieutenant where he served as the Watch Commander of our Alpha Platoon in the Uniform Patrol Division where he remained until his promotion to Captain on July 3, 2019.
Most recently on November 3, 2021, he was promoted to Deputy Chief. Major Reid has also served as our S.W.A.T. Team Leader and Team Commander.
Education
In June of 2021, Major Reid earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in administration from Strayer University.
