Johnny Partin was born in Hopewell at John Randolph Hospital in 1992. He is the son of John Partin Sr and Cindy Partin, both local small business owners. Johnny grew up in Enon just outside of Hopewell and is a graduate of Thomas Dale High School in Chesterfield County.
Johnny graduated from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in 2014 as a Distinguished Military Graduate with Institute Honors earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with minors in both Mathematics and Writing. Johnny is now a part-time student at Virginia State University (VSU), pursuing a Masters degree in Economics and Finance. Prior to graduating from VMI, he commissioned into the Virginia Army National Guard as an Ordnance Officer and now holds the rank of Captain.
After VMI, Johnny worked for Shoosmith Construction as a Construction Estimator and Project Administrator. After four years in the construction business, Johnny took a position at Advansix (formerly Honeywell and Allied Chemical) as a Capital Engineering Estimator. In this position, plant renovations, facility upgrades, and new construction come to him for engineering estimates and budget projections.
With his return to Hopewell, Johnny involved himself in the community. He joined a number of civic, volunteer, and nonprofit organizations: Keep Hopewell Beautiful (Past Chairman), Hopewell Kiwanis Club (President), John Randolph Foundation (Scholarship Selection Committee Member), Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (Past Board Member), Hopewell City Public Schools (Past Strategic Action Committee Member), and the Hopewell Board of Zoning Appeals (Past Vice Chairman).
As one of Hopewell’s youngest elected City Councilors, Johnny passionately wants to repair Hopewell’s aging infrastructure, upgrade Hopewell’s school system, expand neighborhood and school safety/security, develop a stronger focus on environmental issues, and transform Hopewell into a premier small business community.
